OUR FACILITIES

AQUATIC TREADMILL

Our aquatic treadmill is the latest state of the art Tudor Neptune Mk3 Hydrotherapy Treadmill and we are thrilled to be the first in Cornwall to have one.

It has a walk through design and large glass sides to facilitate full viewing areas. This enables the hydrotherapist to assess joint range of motion, stance time and stride length throughout the therapy session.

The extended chamber and powerful motor will easily accommodate even the largest of dog breeds. Foot rails either side allow the hydrotherapist to accompany the dog in the unit if needed, this also provides the hydrotherapist with the capacity to guide and support the dog with gait re-education whenever necessary. The water level is easily adjusted, allowing the hydrotherapist to target flexion and extension on the joint of interest. The treadmill is equipped with a variable speed control panel, enabling us to achieve the correct gait pattern for the individual patient and an inbuilt electric controlled incline system (up to 6 degrees) which helps target load to the hind limbs if required.

Walking in water is a closed chain exercise; this method of walking without the added stress of further trauma is the ideal way of promoting gait re-education after surgery or injury.

The Neptune Mk3 is also beneficial for those dogs with heart or respiratory problems that find swimming in the pool too exhausting and for dogs that are water phobic who simply prefer to have all four paws on the ground.

POOL

Our Pool is a custom built 3m x 2.5m x 1.2m deep, specially designed canine hydrotherapy pool.

It is equipped with 2 anti-swim jets enabling us to create a precise flow of water for your dog to swim against and has an inbuilt internal non-slip ramp.

It is constantly heated to 30 degrees as warm water helps muscles relax and eases discomfort in joints, tendons and muscles.

The pool is accessed by a non-slip dog ramp.

All dogs are swum in either a flotation jacket or safety harness.

Chemical levels and balancing agents are checked using the Palintest Pooltest 6 photometer up to 3 times a day. Detailed records of the water quality are kept to maintain the correct balance.

Bromine is used to kill any bacteria that may be brought into the pool or treadmill.

There is a shower in the pool room and treadmill area so that your dog can be washed down before and after their treatment.

Towels are provided so that we can ensure that your dog leaves our centre as warm and dry as possible. It is recommended that extra towels and a warm/towel coat is brought to your sessions so that your dog does not get cold whilst travelling home.

There is ample off road parking available for clients at Stage1hydrotherapy as well as a toilet area for your dog to use. Please make sure that you clean up after your dog and that they are kept on leads at all times whilst on the premisis.

SHOP

We have a small shop area where we stock Skippers natural fish treats. Super-nutritious freshly dried Sea Treats for dogs - handmade in Grimsby, 100% healthy and low fat. Also Organic Virgin Coconut oil and Fresh Salmon oil

We are also a stockest of The Dogs Butchers, complete raw dog food.

Also currently in stock, green back vetbed. Vetbeds are widely used by vets to make dogs feel warm, secure and cosy when receiving treatment. Vetbed's state-of-the-art construction also means they’re just as good for domestic use too.

Vetbed is made from double-strength polyester, with the high fibre density to retain extra heat and allow for added air permeability. It also includes unique drainage properties in case your pet has any accidents while they are resting. They are a great choice for older dogs as the added heat is soothing for aging muscles and joints, and for any animals recovering from a spot of surgery or treatment.
